ALS Environmental Ltd & ALS Life Sciences Ltd COVID-19 / Coronavirus Update 14/05/2020
May 14, 2020
It has been seven weeks since the Government announced their COVID-19 / Coronavirus lockdown requirements for UK business including ALS Environmental and ALS Life Sciences and a lot has happened during that time. As we provide testing services for water utilities and environmental protection, ALS businesses were classified as Key Worker Enterprises under Government guidelines.
Therefore, the strategy we adopted was designed to ensure, that as far as possible, our colleagues and clients were protected from the risk of COVID-19 / Coronavirus infection. Where people were suffering from COVID-19 / Coronavirus-like symptoms they were isolated from the work environment to prevent the spread of the virus.
We are pleased to confirm that we have remained focused on implementing our strategy of Protection, Isolation and Continuity and we have succeeded in our objectives to maintain a safe working environment and high service levels across our laboratory network.
Of course, we are aware that the challenges we face in coming weeks are likely to change with the Government’s recent announcement of the relaxation of some lockdown requirements.
We are starting to see an increase in sample volumes in many areas and are keeping our resourcing levels under constant review. At the same time, we are reviewing our working practices to ensure that we remain COVID-safe and compliant with revised Government guidance as our laboratories become busier. For example, in coming days we will be implementing some additional measures which includes the screening of all Staff and Visitors for elevated body temperatures at all ALS laboratory facilities
We remain committed to continuing to support our clients as they adjust their own businesses to the “new normal” as we hopefully move safely out of the worst of the COVID-19 / Coronavirus pandemic.
Maintaining excellent service levels in times of change is always a challenge, however, we would encourage clients to assist us in making this task easier by discussing any plans for significant changes in their sample volumes with their Business Development Manager.
Once again, we would like to thank you all for your support and understanding during this challenging period. It is much appreciated by us all at ALS.
