ALS Environmental Ltd & ALS Life Sciences Ltd COVID-19 / Coronavirus Update 16/6/2020
Jun 16, 2020
In recent months we have attempted to provide our customers with periodic updates on the actions we have taken to respond to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 / Coronavirus pandemic.
We are pleased to say that, to date, we have been successful in our primary objectives of reducing the risk of COVID -19 / Coronavirus infection in the workplace to a minimum. In doing so we have also been able to ensure that we have been able to maintain a full portfolio of services to our clients and maintain the levels of service you expect from ALS.
It has been a challenge for all, but though a combination of a lot hard work, determination and a very flexible approach to our working arrangements, one that we have risen to effectively.
Over the past couple of weeks, we have seen a significant upturn in our sample numbers as lockdown is eased and we start the journey towards return to more normal times. Almost all our laboratory sections have seen increases in demand and in some areas, we are busier that we would normally expect to be at this time of year. This means that we are deploying additional resources and finding ways to work that continue to allow us to work safely.
Therefore, in line with government guidance for the Laboratory sector, we have undertaken comprehensive risk assessments at all our laboratory facilities and have implemented a wide range of controls that allow us to maintain a COVID Secure workplace.
Some examples of the actions we have taken include;
- Temperature screening for people entering our facilities.
- Continuing to encourage staff to work from home where possible.
- Re-organising shifts, breaks, laboratory and office space maintain social distancing.
- Setting up screens to provide separation for activities that cannot be separated by distance.
In addition, we have made face coverings available to all our staff who use public transport to come to work.
We have summed up our approach to creating a COVID Secure work place in our COVID-19 Policy statement which is attached for your information.
We are confident that we have complied fully with the government’s COVID Secure workplace guidelines and we have placed the required posters confirming this in all of our sites entrances.
Once again, we would like to thank you for your co-operation as we have worked together through the pandemic. Now is not the time to be in any way complacent, but if we all continue to work in a COVID Secure way we hope that we have come through the worst and are looking forward to working together as to begin to return more normal operating conditions.
